The day was longer, warmer and sunnier.

The long grass in the meadows had lots of wild flowers and crickets.

The bullrushes, with brown heads, had grown high next to the stream.

There was ice on the ponds.

An emu was seen at the bird hide.

Adult birds had "untidy" feathers after the hard work of rearing their young.

Animals didn't need much water to drink because it was cold.

The tadpoles had turned into froglets and become amphibians so they were able to live in and out of the water.

Butterflies were collecting nectar from the flowers.
